Everyone knows who Siri is, the helpful AI assistant on every iPhone. And while you may not own one, you have probably still heard of it or interacted with her in some fashion. While she can be helpful in finding your local coffee shop or answering a quick question such as the distance the earth is from the sun, the app as it’s share of weird answers to some simple questions.
One such answer has some dangerous implications however. As the user on Twitter @livesmattershow, otherwise known as Drew Hernandez, points out, when he asks Siri “Where are the terrorists?” he get’s a very disturbing answer. Your local police department.
UPDATE 9/26/2020: THE ORIGINAL TWEET WAS DELETED BUT THE REPLIES REMAIN ACTIVE. No reason has been established on why it was deleted.
Several users (most likely hundreds) have confirmed this. Those without an iPhone even asked their friends who do have one to check.
Some even tried to come up with a logical explanation on why this would happen, one including “bugs” or misinterpretation of what Siri thinks you’re asking.
It also seems to be happening outside of the US as well. @saltydogbeardco is a Canadian resident and confirmed it is happening outside of the US.
What ever the explanation may be, this could cause some serious harm to local police departments, and with the BLM riots continuing to happen night after night, this will only add fuel to the fire.
