Axios, a left of center news publication, published an article about the current trust held by the public for the mainstream media. While it is correct in it’s assessment that the public does not trust the media anymore, their analysis of what is causing it is short sighted and misguided. They claim that Trump’s rhetoric about the media being the enemy of the people is why we distrust the media so much. In fact, this couldn’t be further from the truth, even though Trump wasn’t wrong. The mainstream media has it backwards. The distrust was present before Trump’s presidency. He was a symptom of the problem, not the cause.
While the media corporations continue to ramp up their radical and activist inspired programming, their once hidden agendas are beginning to surface. One such agenda is corporate hegemony over every aspect of society. It sounds like a conspiracy theory, but the logic is sound. The article ends with such proof for this assertion by claiming that CEOs are the fourth branch of the US government. Yes. You read that correctly. CEOs are the fourth branch of government. Leave it to a current year journalist to forget THEY are the fourth estate – an institution meant to keep the government in check. Something they forgot over a decade ago.
Only independent journalists such as Tim Pool are reporting on this. And the lack of attention on this is worrisome. They are effectively merging corporate multinationals with the federal government – one of the most terrifying prospects in history. Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to be a warning for us – not a god damn manual.
