As the fires grow larger around the Northwest and California, people are noticing a trend along the I5 corridor. A lot of the fires cropping up don’t seem to be organic in nature. As in, they’re being set intentionally by humans. First it was on Twitter, where satellite images show the fires starting right along the freeway from central Washington down to California. Then reports were coming out about random people setting fires in Oregon and Washington. Not just anywhere either. It was along major freeways and highways.
According to Law Enforcement Today, on September 7th, in Salinas, California, 37-year-old Anita Esquivel, was arrested after allegedly starting fires intentionally along Highway 101 near Boronda Road. This occurred after 9 a.m. but the number of fires were not released.
A 36 year old woman was then arrested on September 9th for starting fires in Spokane Washington on the 6th. She allegedly lied to officers about her name and was arrested on burglary along the charge for arson.
A man was also arrested on the 2nd for allegedly starting one of the fires west of Eugene, Oregon.
“Elias Newton Pendergrass is accused of first-degree arson in the Sweet Creek Milepost 2 fire, which covers 382 acres near the community of Mapleton. Pendergrass, a Mapleton resident, is being held in the Lane County Jail.”
UPDATE: More evidence of ANTIFA being the culprit behind a lot of these fires is being compiled. Twitter user Paul J. Romero confirmed that the Douglas Country sheriff had 6 ANTIFA arsonists in custody with connection to the fires.
Trooper Ryan Burke tweeted on September 9th around 4 pm about a fire that was set by someone intentionally along SR-167. The arson was 36 years old and, according to Burke’s tweet, was sent to jail.
According to twitter user @KatieDaviscourt, one day ago Puallup PD arrested Jeffery Acord in relation to the fire along the 167 highway. Apparently, Acord was arrested and charged in 2014 during an anti-police protest for possession of a concealed weapon and illegal possession of fireworks.
The same day she tweeted the arrest of Acord calling in his own arrest. She then said that 90% of the fires are erupting in close proximity to homes and residential areas, which is not very common. Apparently, she quoted a tweet that said there were multiple fires within the actual Wapato City limits.
The same day firefighters responded to someone attempting to start fires at Dexter State Recreation Area, according to a tweet made by KSNV.
22 hours before this writing, she states that Zachery Lang of Portland, Oregon was arrested after a manhunt for starting more fires. But according to her quoted tweet, this man is affiliated with Portland ANTIFA. But warns that it might be unrelated.
It was today (September 10th) around 1 pm when a state trooper tweeted a similar incident occurring on SR512 and SR-7. A citizen observed and alerted 911, to which a foot chase ensued and the arson was caught. The strange thing about this tweet however, is the fact that he specifically stated “one is in custody and on his way to jail.” Either it was a mistake in grammar, or there were more than one arsonist.
At the same, Bonnie Lake also had fires that were started behind a local Target in another residential area. This fire grew out of control and now the municipality of Bonnie Lake is under evacuation.
Then in Buckley, WA reports came out of residents finding large cases with paper inside, placed within the dry brush. The glass supposedly acts as a rudimentary magnifying glass that, long after it’s initially placed, it is assumed to self ignite thanks to those properties.
The next day (September 10th), Lynnwood, WA had a fallen power pole that PUD crews quickly fixed. The issue they reported however was the pole was cut and did not fall of it’s own accord.
She also told followers that a source with the Fire Department with Bonnie Lake said the fires are “100% arson; forest fires don’t happen in residential neighborhoods.” And by this I think they mean suburban neighborhoods.
Then, 31 minutes before this writing, it was heard over the local police scanner that a “suspicious vehicle with Texas plates was throwing Molotov Cocktails” – verifying, yet correcting, the earlier rumours of a truck throwing them.
Other users are also finding the whole thing suspicious. Mostly those that actually live in these areas.
Three states have had multiple instances of an arsonist intentionally setting brush and dry grass on fire. And one pattern that popped up on Twitter came from this video footage captured by a weather satellite. The first video in the playlist below shows an infrared satellite capturing the start of many fires. But they’re all popping up along the I5 corridor. The other three videos in the playlist show the smoke coverage over the past week.
Something isn’t right with all these events occurring all at once, just as the riots in Portland suddenly calmed down after 103 days of protest and rioting. Another report I am trying to get evidence of is of a video on Facebook that has since been deleted for unknown reasons. The source (family members with no knowledge of the previous events, mostly because they don’t have a Twitter account) said the video depicted a woman reporting on “unknown individuals” with gas cans attempting to burn hay bails that were on the farm across the street from her house. But these claims are not confirmed yet, and the video is still being located.
The video below shows an officer confirming his suspicion it was arson.
So for now, it appears that it’s not necessarily corradiated. While no one is organizing these arsons, it’s clear that a lot of these fires are not natural and are being set by humans.
UPDATED 9/11/2020: More information has been added on arrests made September 9th about confirmed ANTIFA arsonists setting more fires in Oregon.
