EDMONDS, WA Reports of multiple shots fired at Lake Ballinger last night, Dec. 3rd around 9:24 pm. About 6 to 7 shots were fired, being heard up to a mile away. The first shot had a longer delay between it and the second shot, with the preceding shots having the same, but shorter delay between shots. Reported by MyEdmondsNews.com:
Detectives continued to investigate Friday after police found shell casings and blood while responding to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots fired in the Lake Ballinger area Thursday night.
According to Mountlake Terrace Police Commander Mike Haynes, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace patrol officers responded at 9:24 p.m. Thursday. Officers ended up at Ballinger Park, on the lake’s east side, after receiving a report of a white vehicle seen leaving the park, although it’s unknown at this point if the vehicle is related to the incident, Haynes said.
“Officers checked the park and located several shell casings from a firearm on the dock along with some blood,” Haynes said. In an effort to locate a victim, police conducted an extensive search Thursday night using a K-9 police unit, a drone and specialized water equipment, but no one was found, he added.
Police have been looking through the neighborhood all day, passing the same street multiple times. The city of Edmonds is usually quiet, being so close to the Seattle Metropolitan area. Unfortunately this is the third shooting this year centering around a small neighborhood around Lake Ballinger. Crime is also on the rise, with the police warning residents of thieves napping catalytic converters (of all things). Residents are anxious about the future of their small suburb and the exodus of police from the Seattle police department, hopefully they can find work in the surrounding area, Edmonds included.
