For the past 6 months the nation has been having a debate over the procedure by which we will vote this November. Some have called Trump’s criticisms into question, asserting he wants to cheat the election. At the same time, the right has been claiming that nation wide vote by mail will fail miserably, citing the 84,000 ballots that were disqualified in NY. The mail-in ballots of more than 84,000 New York City Democrats who sought to vote in the presidential primary were disqualified, according to new figures released by the Board of Elections. The city BOE received 403,103 mail-in ballots for the June 23 Democratic presidential primary. But the certified results released Wednesday revealed that only 318,995 mail-in ballots were counted. That means 84,108 ballots were not counted or invalidated 21 percent of the total.
Another argument the left is currently using for nationwide vote by mail is that state already have vote by mail and haven’t had any problems over the decades of it’s use. While true, this claim is invalid based on the fact that the system being presented for voting during the pandemic is not what those 31 states use. Only 3 use the actual “vote by mail”, and not what some are confusing it for – absentee ballots. And the crucial difference is that absentee ballots require your verification and request. While Washington and Colorado are using vote by mail, those states have been using this system for the past 20 years and already have the procedures in place for minimal fraud.
In fact, a cat in Atlanta was mailed a voting registration – who had been dead for over 12 years. The suspicious mailer has the family who received it wondering what other critters are receiving applications to vote ahead of Novembers hotly contested election between President Trump and presumptive Democratic challenger Joe Biden.
